It houses print materials, some artifacts, and photographs. None of these materials circulate and must be used in the Local History Room. Materials include City Directories; telephone books; school yearbooks; maps; books by local authors; books about Bay County and general history books about Florida. Many of the books in the Local History Room are also available in the general collection. The Panama City Pilot, an early newspaper of the area is available on microfilm and the microfilm is housed in the Genealogy Collection at the main library. The collection also includes over 6,500 photographs of the area. We have negatives or digital files on all of these and patrons may order prints of these photographs for a modest fee. A 5x7 is $5.00; an 8X10 is $10.00, and an 11x14 is $15.00. Currently over 9,000 photographs are available on the internet. The digitization of these photographs has been funded in part under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the State Library of Florida.
